It’s looking like Luke Evans and Dan Stevens will be taking on some major roles in Disney’s upcoming live-action retelling of Beauty and the Beast.
The classic tale sees Gaston try to win the heart of the beautiful Bell, but is rejected for the Beast. He ends up gathering townsfolk to take him down.
Emma Watson will be playing Belle, the titular Beauty, and hinted that the film would be a musical when she announced the news on Facebook a few months back. “Time to start some singing lessons,” she wrote.
Bill Condon (Kinsey, Dreamgirls, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 & Part 2), who has also helmed the upcoming Mr. Holmes, will be directing from a screenplay by Stephen Chbosky (Rent, The Perks of Being a Wallflower) and Evan Spiliotopoulos (Battle for Terra, Hercules).
Watson, Evans, Stevens; certainly a decent cast thus far.
