Luther is returning.
The fantastic BBC series is getting a fifth chapter, as announced in a moody teaser BBC has unveiled online. “This. Will. Hurt.” Geez, considering what this troubled detective has experienced so far, you can only imagine what they’ll have him go through in series 5.
And yes, Alice (Ruth Wilson) is back. “It’s not what you expect,” Wilson confirmed to The Independent in February. “She’s definitely back for a bit. [Alice is] back with a vengeance.”
Season 5 will consist of four episodes and will see the return of Dermot Crowley as DSU Martin Schenk, Patrick Malahide as George Cornelius, and Michael Smiley as Benny Silver aka Deadhead. Wunmi Mosaku (The End of the F***ing World, Black Mirror) joins the series as Catherine Halliday, Luther’s new partner.
Watch out for Luther season 5 to arrive later this year.

But even as the case brings him closer than ever to the nature of true evil, a reluctant Luther must also face the ghosts of his own past. Striding back into the line of fire, he must choose who to protect… and who to sacrifice. Whatever his next move, it will have devastating consequences for those around him – and will change John Luther forever.
