Sony has unveiled the official trailer for Madame Web, a Marvel Comics adaptation starring Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney. Watch the trailer above and a vignette with Johnson and director S.J. Clarkson below.

Describe by the studio as “a switch from the typical genre,” the film tells a standalone origin story of Marvel heroine Madame Web, aka Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures… if they can all survive a deadly present.

This was developed to be a part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, following Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and Morbius. Apart from Cassandra Webb, the film brings in a number of other Marvel characters: Julia Carpenter / Spider-Woman (played by Sweeney), Mattie Franklin / Spider-Woman (Celeste O’Connor), Anya Corazon / Araña (Isabela Merced), and villain Ezekiel Sims (Tahar Rahim).

The film is directed by S.J. Clarkson, a longtime television helmer whose credits include episodes of Netflix Marvel series Jessica Jones and The Defenders. Clarkson penned the screenplay with Claire Parker.

Madame Web, also starring Mike Epps, Emma Roberts, and Adam Scott, will land in Australian and U.S. cinemas on February 14th.
