In what could very well be one hell of a slip up, Mads Mikkelsen has revealed who he is playing in the upcoming Star Wars spinoff film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Disney is known for keeping a very tight lid on their franchises, managing to hold onto major plot details often until release date. So, it’s somewhat surprising to hear Mikkelsen drop quite the reveal.
During an interview with Sky News, the actors revealed that would be playing the father of Jyn Erso, the protagonist played by Felicty Jones.
“Felicity Jones is playing this lovely young strong woman. I play her father, and…that’s too much, I’m sorry,” Mikkelsen said.
Whether Disney was allowing that plot detail to be revealed or whether Mikkelsen truly dropped the ball is up for debate. Regardless, we now know that Rogue One will hold on to that familial plot element inherent in the Star Wars universe. We also don’t know for sure if Mikkelsen’s character will be villainous in nature.
Set prior to the events that unfolded in 1977’s Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, Rogue One tells the story of a group of rebels that unite to steal the plans to the Death Star. Also starring Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, the film is scheduled for U.S. released on December 16.
Now we just need Mikkelsen to tell us exactly who he’s playing in Doctor Strange.
