The casting rumours surrounding the upcoming Suicide Squad film continue to fly in. We only reported on the news that Jared Leto is being eyed to play The Joker yesterday, and now Collider is reporting that Harley Quinn will be played by The Wolf of Wall Street‘s Margot Robbie.
Neither Warner Bros. nor DC Comics have had anything to say about the news so far, so it’s just down to Collider’s sources at this time.
Margot Robbie and Jared Leto are but two names surrounding the project, with Ryan Gosling, Will Smith and Tom Hardy also said to be in the spotlight for roles.
David Ayer, director of End of Watch and Fury, is at the helm of Suicide Squad, which Warner Bros. has lined up for a U.S. release on August 5, 2016.
If Margot’s rumoured casting comes to fruition, it’ll be yet another big get for the Aussie actress. After an eye-catching turn in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street, Robbie seems to be quite the sought-after star. She’ll next be seen opposite Will Smith in Focus, Chris Pine and Chiwetel Ejiofor in Z for Zachariah, and Alexander Skarsgård in Warner Bros’ upcoming Tarzan film.
