This could be one to keep you up at night. The Netflix original tells the Stephen King-esque story of a horror writer (played by Call Me By Your Name’s Victoire Du Bois) who pens books to keep away the scary witch that’s been haunting her in nightmares. But yeah, it can’t last, and this author is soon forced to return to her hometown when she realises her terrifying stories are coming true.
Looks like creepy, beautifully filmed stuff, bringing to mind some of James Wan’s work and Mike Flanagan’s stand-out Netflix horror series The Haunting of Hill House. Count us in; sleep is overrated anyway.
The eight-episode first season of Marianne hits Netflix on September 18.
