Mark Wahlberg will be taking on robbers in the thriller Home Invasion.

Wahlberg has signed up to star in Home Invasion, a Paramount Pictures thriller penned by Prisoners scribe Aaron Guzikowski, who is also behind the script for the upcoming Papillon remake and the in-the-works reboot of Friday the 13th. No director has been locked in as yet.

According to The Tracking Board, the outlet that reported the news, Home Invasion will see Wahlberg playing…

“…a contractor whose artist wife suffers from an illness that prevents her from being in the sunlight and, as such, he builds a futuristic house that blocks out any natural light. When a band of criminals attempts to break into the house to steal one of his wife’s valuable sculptures, he must evade and outsmart them to protect his home.”

The film is being described as Panic Room meets Die Hard, which sounds like the kind of project that could offer up some tense, self-contained action, with Wahlberg kicking all sorts of ass to boot. We’re in.

Wahlberg has a slew of films on the horizon, including the disaster drama Deepwater Horizon, the Boston bombing drama Patriot’s Day, and Michael Bay’s Transformers: The Last Knight.
