New ‘M3GAN 2.0’ Trailer: The Killer Doll Returns, Now with a Nemesis and a Britney Spears Backing Track

She’s back—and this time, she’s not the only A.I. with attitude. The official trailer for M3GAN 2.0 has arrived, and it’s clear the sequel is leaning harder into self-aware comedy, sci-fi mayhem, and… even Britney Spears gets a nod.

Chapter two picks up two years after the first film’s viral carnage. Gemma (Allison Williams) is enjoying newfound fame as an A.I. expert and best-selling author, while her niece Cady (Violet McGraw) is now a teenager, increasingly chafing against Gemma’s strict rules. Unbeknownst to them, the tech behind M3GAN has been stolen and repurposed by a shady defence contractor to build Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno), a military-grade infiltration weapon with a mind of her own.

As Amelia becomes more self-aware—and more dangerous—Gemma decides to reboot M3GAN (Amie Donald, voice by Jenna Davis) with some serious upgrades. Faster. Stronger. Possibly even pettier. Cue the collision course between two killer A.I. queens, complete with weaponised sass, over-the-top mayhem, and a trailer scored—fittingly—with “Oops!… I Did It Again.”

Director Gerard Johnstone returns, along with producers James Wan, Jason Blum, and star Allison Williams. Brian Jordan Alvarez and Jen Van Epps also reprise their roles, joined by newcomers Aristotle Athari, Timm Sharp, and Jemaine Clement.

The first M3GAN sliced through the box office, topping $US180 million worldwide – and from a budget of around $US12 million, no less. If this trailer’s anything to go by, the sequel is aiming to do it again—with even sharper nails and a bigger budget.

M3GAN 2.0 opens in Australian cinemas on June 26 and hits U.S. theatres on June 27.
