Netflix has lined up a big one.
The streaming giant is partnering with Skydance Media to produce Six Underground, an action film directed by Michael Bay (Transformers, Bad Boys, Armageddon) and led by Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds.
The original feature will be reuniting Reynolds with screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who penned both Deadpool and Deadpool 2. Bay will also be producing the film alongside Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger.
The plot details are being kept mostly under wraps, although THR‘s sources are reporting that the story “revolves around six billionaires who fake their own deaths and form an elite team to take down bad guys.”
This is considered to be Netflix’s biggest play into the blockbuster realm since Bright, the Will Smith and Joel Edgerton-starring action-fantasy pic that was released in December 2017. While there’s no word on what kind of budget Six Underground is looking at, you can imagine that Bay won’t make it a cheap outing.
Six Underground is expected to head into production in the next few months for a Netflix release in 2019.
