The final official trailer has been released for the film, which follows a secretive unit of the CIA as they attempt to transport an asset across the city before the enemy closes in. A new behind the scenes featurette has also been released for the film, focusing on this rarely-discussed arm of the CIA. “They take care of some of the more operation-oriented activities,” says Berg, “and I just thought it was really rich material for a movie.”
It could very well be. The trailers thus far have shown off what appears to be a brutal, non-stop ride that should, hopefully, tick off the right boxes for fans of action cinema. We’ll find out what we’re in for when Mile 22, also starring Lauren Cohan, Ronda Rousey, John Malkovich and Iko Uwais, hits the US on August 3 and arrives in Australia on August 23.
Official synopsis for Mile 22:
In a visceral modern thriller from the director of Lone Survivor, Mark Wahlberg stars as James Silva, an operative of the CIA’s most highly-prized and least-understood unit. Aided by a top-secret tactical command team, Silva must retrieve and transport an asset who holds life-threatening information to Mile 22 for extraction before the enemy closes in.
