The first trailer has arrived for Mile 22, the upcoming action-thriller led by Mark Wahlberg.
Wahlberg plays James Silva, a CIA operative assigned to transport an asset (The Raid‘s Iko Uwais) to the titular location. Of course, an array of baddies intend to make the road anything but smooth.
This marks the fourth Wahlberg film directed by Peter Berg following Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon and Patriots Day, and it could be another solid entry in their strong line up. Berg certainly knows action and he’s got a seemingly straightforward enough narrative here to hopefully deliver some standout thrills. And while Wahlberg does his reliable Wahlberg thing, it’s good to see Uwais get a decent-sized role in a US production, with some hopefully good support from John Malkovich, Lauren Cohen and Ronda Rousey. Fingers crossed here.
Mile 22 will open in the US on August 3 and arrives in Australia on August 23.
Official synopsis for Mile 22:
In a visceral modern thriller from the director of Lone Survivor, Mark Wahlberg stars as James Silva, an operative of the CIA’s most highly-prized and least understood unit. Aided by a top-secret tactical command team, Silva must retrieve and transport an asset who holds life-threatening information to Mile 22 for extraction before the enemy closes in.
