Miles Teller to Rob Banks in True Story

Miles Teller, who was downright impressive in Whiplash, will be starring in a dramatic true story directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Gangster Squad).

The Wrap reports Teller will star in an adaptation of Josh Dean’s article from The Atavist, The Life and Times of the Stopwatch Gang.

The article tells the true story of Canadian criminals who robbed U.S. banks in the 80s without ever firing their weapons. The gang managed to steal an estimated $10 million from around 100 banks. There’s no word as yet on which gang member Teller will play.

Scott Stuber (Ted, The Internship, 47 Ronin) will be producing the film for Universal Pictures, the studio currently in the process of acquiring the rights to Dean’s article.

Teller is on a roll at the moment. After smashing it with Whiplash, he’ll next be seen playing Mr. Fantastic in Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four reboot, starring opposite Anna Kendrick and Bryan Cranston in the comedy Get a Job, and playing World Champion Boxer Vinny Pazienza in Bleed for This.
