Tom Cruise Rides Off a Cliff in First ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One’ Trailer

The official teaser trailer has arrived for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One, the seventh film in the Tom Cruise action franchise.

“Your days of fighting for the so-called greater good are over,” says former IMF director Eugene Kittridge (played by Henry Czerny), whose debrief with Ethan Hunt way back in the first film (1996) ended with a showcase of what explosive chewing gum can do. “You need to pick a side.”

A good amount of footage in the teaser, packing in snippets of Hunt and his team – including Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames), Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg), and Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson) – looking intense in various picturesque locales around the world. We get glimpses of the many action sequences, including a sandstorm desert scene, a train rooftop fight, and, yes, Cruise running. We’re also given a look at the film’s villain, played by Esai Morales (Ozark, Titans), and Hayley Atwell’s mysterious character, Grace.

And, of course, there’s a taste of Cruise’s signature stunt work. At least one of the hair-raising stunts here sees the actor speed off a cliff on a motorcycle. Yeah, just another day at the office for Cruise.

After Rogue Nation and Fallout director Christopher McQuarrie stayed on with the franchise in a big way, deciding to direct two more entries back-to-back. As the (long) title points to: Dead Reckoning is a two-parter, with Part Two set for 2024.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One, also starring Vanessa Kirby, Shea Whigham, Pom Klementieff, Rob Delaney, and Cary Elwes, among others, will be in Australian cinemas on July 13th and U.S. cinemas on July 14th.
