‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ Trailer: Tom Cruise is Back for More Jaw-Dropping Stunts

Paramount Pictures has released the official teaser trailer for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, the eighth instalment in the franchise. Tom Cruise returns as unstoppable IMF agent Ethan Hunt, with Christopher McQuarrie back at the helm after directing franchise entries Rogue Nation, Fallout and Dead Reckoning Part One.

The trailer gives fans a glimpse of Ethan Hunt (Cruise) running around the world following the events of Dead Reckoning Part One (this new chapter was originally to be subtitled Dead Reckoning Part Two). Cruise undertakes more of his signature jaw-dropping stunts – a big one here sees him hanging from a biplane. There’s even a nostalgic nod, with flashbacks to Ethan’s early missions—like his nail-biting infiltration of the CIA, where he famously hovered inches above the floor. There’s an emotional weight to the trailer, along with the “final” in the title, hinting this could be a final ride for our daredevil agent.

Returning to the fold are Mission: Impossible veterans, including Ving Rhames as Luther, Simon Pegg as Benji, and Vanessa Kirby as Alanna Mitsopolis. Hayley Atwell’s Grace, a former thief now allied with the IMF, appears once again, with Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, and Angela Bassett as President Erika Sloane rounding out a stellar ensemble. New players include Hannah Waddingham, Holt McCallany, and Nick Offerman.

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, which McQuarrie wrote with Erik Jendresen (Dead Reckoning Part One, Band of Brothers), hits Australian cinemas on May 22 and lands in the United States on May 23, 2025.
