The major award-winners of this year’s Fangoria x Monster Fest have been announced.
The flagship Melbourne festival of the primarily horror-focused Fangoria x Monster Fest 2019, which is now heading across Australia, wrapped last Friday October 18th. The big winner: Color Out of Space, earning the Golden Monster for ‘Best Film’ and ‘Best Director’ for Richard Stanley.
Color Out of Space is based on H.P. Lovecraft’s short story and stars Nicolas Cage as a father and husband in a family that experiences horror when a meteorite lands near their house. You can check out our review of that one right HERE.
Best Australian Film went to savage slasher The Furies, from director Tony D’Aquino. The film took out the honour amidst strong competition that included 12 other Aussie films. By the way, we’re running a tickets giveaway competition for The Furies that you can enter (and check out the trailer for) right HERE.
The festival now heads on an Australian tour that includes Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Perth and Sydney, from Thursday October 31st – Sunday November 3rd. Both Color Out of Space and The Furies are showing, among a line up that includes Rob Zombie’s 3 from Hell, the Rabid remake, and the Aussie Nazi-vampires-on-a-ship horror film Blood Vessel (our review of that one HERE).
