The first trailer for Monster Trucks has arrived, giving us our first look at the upcoming film that takes its title and runs with it.
Monster Trucks tells the story of Tripp (Lucas Till), a high school senior who befriends a monster that can also serve as an engine for his truck. Yep, it’s your usual boy-and-his-monster-that-powers-his-truck story.
Directed by Chris Wedge, whose credits include Ice Age, Robots and Epic, Monster Trucks looks undoubtedly silly; a Transformers-style twist on the boy-meets-alien/monster story. While this is clearly aimed at the younger demographic, that’s not to say there won’t be harmless fun on offer. Maybe.
Monster Trucks, also starring Jane Levy, Barry Pepper, Amy Ryan, Rob Lowe, Danny Glover, Thomas Lennon and Holt McCallany, is set for U.S. release on January 13, 2017.
Synopsis for Monster Trucks:
Looking for any way to get away from the life and town he was born into, Tripp (Lucas Till), a high school senior, builds a Monster Truck from bits and pieces of scrapped cars. After an accident at a nearby oil-drilling site displaces a strange and subterranean creature with a taste and a talent for speed, Tripp may have just found the key to getting out of town and a most unlikely friend.
Melding cutting edge visual effects and state-of-the-art CGI, Monster Trucks is an action filled adventure for the whole family that will keep you on the edge of your seat and ultimately touch your heart.
