The first official trailer has dropped for Morgan, the upcoming sci-fi thriller starring Kate Mara and Anya Taylor-Joy.

That teaser trailer did a great job of giving us the film’s dark, dread-filled tone without giving away too much footage, so, as you’d expect, this one paints a much clearer picture.

It doesn’t take long before the titular creation is revealed. Taylor-Joy’s lab-crafted “human” is on the verge of cracking, and Kate Mara’s corporate troubleshooter is going to wish she’d turned down her latest assignment.

Director Luke Scott (Ridley’s son) could be about to make a name for himself if the potential of this good-looking thriller is realised. The plot is familiar, but there’s a strong cast, not to mention Taylor-Joy’s fantastic performance in The Witch to provided further confidence, and the events look to unfold potently within the horror vein. Fingers crossed this one adds up to a suspenseful and gritty sci-fi pic that manages to serve up some food for thought as well.

Morgan, also starring Jennifer Jason Leigh, Paul Giamatti, Michelle Yeoh, Boyd Holbrook, and Toby Jones, will open in the U.S. on September 2.

Synopsis for Morgan:

A corporate troubleshooter (Kate Mara) is sent to a remote, top-secret location, where she is to investigate and evaluate a terrifying accident. She learns the event was triggered by a seemingly innocent “human,” who presents a mystery of both infinite promise and incalculable danger.
