The fighters are circling the ring in the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie.
Joining previously-announced actor Joe Taslim (The Raid), who’s on board as Sub-Zero, in the video game adaptation are Mehcad Brooks (perhaps best known for playing James Olsen in Supergirl), renowned Japanese actor Tadanobu Asano (Mongol, Ichi the Killer, Thor: Ragnarok), Ludi Lin (played Black Ranger in the 2017 Power Rangers movie), and Aussie newcomer Sisi Stringer.
As per THR, here’s who they’re playing:
Mehcad Brooks – Special Forces cybernetically-enhanced soldier Jackson ‘Jax’ Briggs
Tadanobu Asano – The Eternal God of Thunder and of the most powerful characters in the Mortal Kombat game series, Raiden
Sisi Stringer – Mileena, the vicious and evil clone of Kitana
Ludi Lin – One of the original Mortal Kombat characters, Liu Kang
Australian commercial director Simon McQuoid will be making his feature debut with the film, which will be produced by James Wan and Todd Garner. The current version of the script they’re going ahead with comes from Greg Russo, who’s also attached to a planned Resident Evil film reboot and a Space Invaders movie.
While plot details are still understandably under wraps, we at least know that this won’t be a toned down adaptation. Get ready for fatalities, people!
“MK WILL be R-Rated and for the first time EVER, FATALITIES will FINALLY be on the big screen,” Russo tweeted in July.
Since it's already been stated by other members of the team, I'm gonna put this one to bed. MK WILL be R-Rated and for the first time EVER, FATALITIES will FINALLY be on the big screen (and no I'm not gonna say which ones) You'll just have to wait for the movie & see!!! 😉 pic.twitter.com/aVTewH4t28
