Jason Statham Takes the Fight to the Open Sea
Mutiny fits neatly into Statham’s familiar brand of acion-thriller: the lone badass with a dangerous past, a personal score to settle, and a very particular set of skills when it comes to dealing with bad men in confined spaces. This time, he plays Cole Reed, a London-born cop investigating a human trafficking operation who ends up framed for the murder of a powerful associate.

The trailer wastes no time getting to the good stuff, throwing Reed aboard a ship full of traffickers who are asking for it. There are close-quarters fights, bruising takedowns, and Statham stomping his way through another batch of villains with the kind of efficiency that now feels less like a surprise and more like a contractual obligation.
Director and Cast
The film comes from director Jean-François Richet, who certainly knows his way around tough-guy action. His previous features include Gerard Butler’s Plane, Mel Gibson’s Blood Father, the two-part Mesrine saga starring Vincent Cassel, and 2005’s Assault on Precinct 13. The script was penned by J.P. Davis (Plane, The Contractor) and Lindsay Michel.
Alongside Statham, the cast includes Annabelle Wallis, Adrian Lester, Jason Wong, Roland Møller, and Arnas Fedaravičius.
Mutiny Release Date
Mutiny is set to hit Australian cinemas on August 20 and U.S. cinemas on August 21.
