Netflix Sets ‘Pride and Prejudice’ Series Starring Emma Corrin, Jack Lowden and Olivia Colman

Netflix is returning to the world of Jane Austen with a six-part limited series based on Pride and Prejudice, starring Emma Corrin (The Crown, Deadpool & Wolverine) as Elizabeth Bennet, Jack Lowden (Slow Horses) as Mr. Darcy, and Olivia Colman (The Crown, The Favourite) as Mrs. Bennet.

The adaptation is written by Dolly Alderton (Everything I Know About Love) and directed by Euros Lyn (Heartstopper), who also serves as executive producer. Corrin will also executive produce alongside Laura Lankester, Will Johnston and Louise Mutter for Lookout Point. Lisa Osborne produces. Production is set to begin in the UK later this year.

As first reported by Deadline, the series is described as a faithful, classic take on Austen’s landmark novel.

Reintroducing Austen’s Iconic Romance

“Playing Elizabeth Bennet is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” said Corrin. “To be able to bring this iconic character to life, alongside Olivia and Jack, with Dolly’s phenomenal scripts, is truly the greatest honour. I can’t wait for a new generation to fall in love with this story all over again.”

Alderton said, “Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is the blueprint for romantic comedy – it has been a joy to delve back into its pages to find both familiar and fresh ways of bringing this beloved book to life.”

“Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story, and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it.”

Netflix Builds on Austen Catalogue

Following Netflix’s 2022 adaptation of Persuasion with Dakota Johnson, this new Pride and Prejudice aims to honour the legacy of Austen’s most celebrated work with a more traditional approach.

“We are delighted to be sharing this beloved British classic with our global audience,” said Netflix’s Mona Qureshi. “The calibre of a cast led by Emma, Jack and Olivia is testament to this precious story being in the best possible hands with Euros Lyn and the team at Lookout Point at the helm.”

Production begins later this year, with casting still underway — reportedly including the all-important search for a white button-down shirt that works both wet and dry.
