New ‘Captain Marvel’ Trailer: Brie Larson Takes Flight as the MCU’s Big New Heroine

Marvel Entertainment

Marvel Studios has unveiled a big new trailer for Captain Marvel, unveiling plenty of new footage from the MCU’s first heroine-led adventure.

Oscar winner Brie Larson takes on the lead role as Carol Danvers, who we see here battling it out both on earth and in outer space. We’re heading back to the ’90s in the film and hanging out with a younger Nick Fury (a CG-fied Samuel L. Jackson), as the two navigate the escalating war between two alien races. Danvers’ past and the mystery of how her superhero life came to be is a key element the trailer focuses on, while showing off a space adventure and snippets of our hero’s powerful abilities – she’s shaping up to be the wrench in Thanos’ plans, after all.

Captain Marvel, featuring a big cast that also includes Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Rune Temte, Algenis Perez Soto, Mckenna Grace, Annette Bening, Clark Gregg, and Jude Law, arrives in Australia on March 7 and hits the US on March 8, 2019.

Here’s the studio’s official synopsis for Captain Marvel:

Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.
