Get ready for a seventh Paranormal Activity movie.
Paramount Pictures announced the news at cinema industry expo CineEurope in Barcelona. As reported by Deadline, Paramount Chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos told the crowd they had moved into development on the new chapter of the successful found-footage franchise..
“We are partnering with uber horror producer Jason Blum to bring a new installment of Paranormal Activity,” said Gianopulos. Blum and his Blumhouse Productions banner have been attached to the franchise since the first film, which was released to huge success back in 2007.
There are no plot details or even a title to go on as yet, nor is it known who will be directing and/or writing the new film.
Written and directed by Oren Peli, the first Paranormal Activity had an oh-so small production budget of around $US15,000… and went on to make a whopping $US193.3 million worldwide. Blumhouse rapidly became a force after this. The six Paranormal Activity movies, the last of which was 2015’s Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, have earned a total $US890.5 million worldwide.
Paramount had a few upcoming projects to show off at CineEurope, including Top Gun: Maverick, Will Smith-starring Gemini Man, Sonic the Hedgehog, and A Quiet Place 2.
