An action-packed new trailer has been released for The Raid 2: Berandal, the sequel to writer-director Gareth Evans’ 2011 action-hit. The first film kicked all kinds of metaphorical and literal ass, and the follow-up looks equally as impressive. While the first film told the simple story of a raid on a building that goes wrong, this seems to have much more of a storyline. Iko Uwais reprises his role as Rama, who must now go undercover in order to reveal the ones at the top of this criminal food-chain. Action ensues. Yayan Ruhian, the actor/stunt-choreographer from the first film, is also back on board. We’re so excited for this one.
Sundance Film Festival Synopsis:
Immediately following the events of the original, The Raid 2 tracks Officer Rama as he is pressured to join an anti-corruption task force to guarantee protection for his wife and child. His mission is to get close to a new mob boss, Bangun, by befriending his incarcerated son, Uco. Rama must hunt for information linking Bangun with corruption in the Jakarta Police Department while pursuing a dangerous and personal vendetta that threatens to consume him and bring his mission-and the organized crime syndicate-down around him.
ETA: 28 March, 2014.
