20th Century Fox has released a new trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse, providing us with even more enticing footage from Bryan Singer’s fourth film in the franchise.
The trailer paints a better picture of what we’re in for, showing us a little more of Oscar Isaac’s titular villain, Quicksilver’s (Evan Peters) decision to join the fight, a showdown between Psylocke (Olivia Munn) and Beast (Nicholas Hoult), and more. The new snippets are mixed in with glimpses we’ve been given before, but they’re fascinating new tidbits nevertheless.
They’re certainly marketing this as a pretty dramatic chapter in the franchise, and the timeline reset delivered in Days of Future Past pushes the intrigue even higher. Will all of our faves make it through this one?
Fox seems to have a good handle on their X-Men universe, especially when you consider the gutsy universe extension the studio knocked out of the park with Deadpool. Fingers crossed Apocalypse keeps the X-Men streak going.
X-Men: Apocalypse, also starring Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and Jennifer Lawrence, among many others, arrives in Australia on May 19 and hits the U.S. on May 27.
Synopsis for X-Men: Apocalypse:
Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
