‘Night Has Fallen’: Gerard Butler Returning for Fourth Film in ‘Olympus Has Fallen’ Franchise

Millennium Media

The fourth film in the Olympus Has Fallen action movie franchise is on the way.

Gerard Butler will be returning as Secret Service agent Mike Banning in the fourth installment, titled Night Has Fallen, which will bring back Angel Has Fallen (2019) director Ric Roman Waugh and screenwriter Robert Kamen.

No plot details for Night Has Fallen have been unveiled. Angel Has Fallen (spoilers), the third in the franchise following Olympus Has Fallen and London Has Fallen, culminated with Banning accepting a job as Director of the Secret Service, so unless something’s happened between movies we can expect him to be dealing with a big new threat while still in the high-responsibility role.

The Millennium Media action film will be shooting in Bulgaria and throughout Europe in 2021.

The Olympus Has Fallen franchise has proven quite successful. With three films, the series has made over $US500 million at the worldwide box office. It’s no surprise, then, that Millennium is working on more around the brand. Apart from movie four, Millennium Media president Jeffrey Greenstein told Variety, “We’re also beginning to develop it as a TV series.” Stay tuned for more on that one.

Here’s a look back at the first chapter, 2013’s London Has Fallen, which found Banning trapped inside the White House in the wake of a terrorist attack by North Korean guerillas:
