Lionsgate has released more information on their upcoming sequel to Now You See Me.
Daniel Radcliffe, best known for playing the titular character in the Harry Potter franchise, is set to join returning cast members Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Morgan Freeman, Dave Franco and Michael Caine in Now You See Me 2.
Lizzy Caplan, known for playing Virginia Johnson in Showtime’s Masters of Sex, and Jay Chou, who played Kato in The Green Hornet, have also been cast.
The official synopsis is as follows:
One year after outwitting the FBI and winning the public’s adulation with their mind-bending spectacles, the Four Horsemen resurface in Now You See Me 2 only to find themselves face to face with a new enemy who enlists them to pull off their most dangerous heist yet.
While it isn’t known as yet what the new cast members will bring to the plot, it is known that Radcliffe will play Walter, Michael Caine’s son; Caplan will play Lula, rumoured to be something like Isla Fisher’s replacement; and Chou will play a character named Li.
Jon M. Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) is attached at the helm for this sequel, which has a screenplay by Pete Chiarelli (The Proposal) and Ed Solomon, the latter of which co-wrote the first film.
Now You See Me was somewhat of a surprising hit last year, bringing in over $351 million in wordwide box office receipts despite a mediocre critical reception.
