Lionsgate is moving full steam ahead with the third film in the Now You See Me franchise.
Now You See Me 3 is in the works with writers Neil Widener and Gavin James coming on board to pen the screenplay. Deadline broke the news, reporting that the up-and-coming writers will be writing a threequel that will likely see most of the Now You See Me 2 leads reprising their roles.
Widener and James are rising rapidly in Hollywood. Apart from Now You See Me 3, the duo are also writing the screenplay for San Andreas 2, which will see Dwayne Johnson back in the lead with director Brad Peyton returning at the helm. They’ve also penned Battle Of Alcatraz, a Paramount project that depicts a real-life breakout attempt from the infamous prison that occurred in 1964.
No plot details regarding Now You See Me 3 have been revealed. Now You See Me 2 director Jon M. Chu, whose credits also include Step Up 3D, G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Jem and the Holograms, is attached to take the helm.
Now You See Me earned $US351.7 million worldwide on a production budget of $US75 million. The sequel earned $US334.8 million.
