Australia: Thanks to Rialto Distribution, Screen Realm is giving away 10 double passes to see much-hyped horror film Obsession in cinemas!
Opening in Australian cinemas on May 14, Obsession follows Bear (Michael Johnston, Teen Wolf), a hopeless romantic working in a music store and quietly pining for his childhood friend Nikki (Inde Navarrette, Superman & Lois). Too nervous to tell her how he really feels, Bear wanders into a New Age shop and picks up a kitschy novelty toy called the One Wish Willow, which promises one wish for $6.99.

His wish? For Nikki to love him more than anything in the world. And she does. Naturally, things get ugly. What begins as an awkward romantic fantasy quickly twists into something much darker, with Obsession digging into desire, control, consequences, and the terrifying possibility of getting exactly what you asked for.
The film comes from Curry Barker, one of horror’s buzziest new voices. Barker built a following on YouTube and social media before shooting his debut found-footage feature (watch it HERE) for just $800, with the film going on to rack up over 2 million views online.
Obsession arrives with some serious heat behind it. The film, which has a 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing, was the first acquisition of TIFF 2025, with Focus Features paying more than $15 million for worldwide rights. Jason Blum boarded as executive producer, Blumhouse greenlit Barker’s next film before Obsession had even screened, and Barker has since been announced to direct the next Texas Chainsaw film.
