It’s not often you get the likes of Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Paulson, and Helena Bonham Carter in one movie.
Warner Bros. has dropped the first trailer for Ocean’s 8, the spinoff to Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s Eleven franchise starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon. Bullock stars as Debbie Ocean (sister to Clooney’s Danny Ocean), who assembles a team to pull off a heist at the Met Gala in New York City. Their target: a necklace worn by Hathaway’s Daphne Kluger.
While certain types bang away at those keyboards on YouTube comments sections, angry at the fact that we have a franchise entry led by a cast of women (relax, people!), the rest of us can look at the potential of a fun heist flick boasting a talented cast. It looks like a good time. We’ll see.
The film is directed and co-written by Gary Ross, known for Pleasantville and The Hunger Games.
Ocean’s 8, also starring Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina and Rihanna, arrives in Australia on June 7 and hits the US on June 8, 2018.
