Warner Bros. is getting close to a start on Ocean’s Eight, the female-centric Ocean’s Eleven spinoff set to star Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett.
Apart from having the aforementioned Oscar winners locked in lead roles, the high profile project has Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling and hip-hop artist Awkwafina in talks to star. Previous whispers also had Elizabeth Banks circling, although she isn’t mentioned in the most recent report.
According to Deadline, the outlet that reported the news, Warner Bros. plans to have Ocean’s Eight in production in New York this October.
No official details regarding Ocean’s Eight‘s plot have been released, although THR reporter Borys Kit had the following nugget:

Director Gary Ross, known for Pleasantville and The Hunger Games, will be directing from a screenplay he penned alongside Olivia Milch. Ocean’s Eleven director Steven Soderbergh, who was also at the helm of the two follow-ups, Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen, is on board as producer.
Soderbergh’s three Ocean’s films, by the way, raked in a combined $US1.1 billion worldwide.
