Attention all fans of 2012’s Dredd: You must sign the official petition if you wish to increase the likelihood of getting a sequel made. 2000AD, the publishers of Judge Dredd, have created an official petition to send to Lionsgate.
Dredd star Karl Urban has even talked about the possibility of a sequel. In an interview with Collider, he said:
It’s not off the agenda. Clearly everyone has woken up to the fact that an audience has found this movie and loves it. It’s entirely possible, and if people want to see another installment then they should be vocal about that, because, it can happen. The power of fandom can resurrect projects. In fact, that’s what happened with Star Trek. They weren’t going to do a third season until fans did a letter writing campaign and they continued that series.
After the abysmal 1995 Stallone vehicle, fans of Judge Dredd were thinking they may never get a film to do the character justice. Then came Pete Travis’ 2012 actioner that struck the right chord with fans and action-film aficionados. While it wasn’t a masterpiece by any means, Dredd was still a fun, violent action flick that pleased many (you can read our review HERE). It even made it into our Top Ten Films That Need Sequels list!
