A big new trailer has arrived for Quentin Tarantino’s ninth film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
The new look at the auteur’s latest feature comes as the film is enjoying its first rave reception: a 7-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival. It certainly bodes well for the picture, which is set in ’69 Hollywood and follows star Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his long stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) as they make their way around a changing industry. Margot Robbie plays Sharon Tate in an impressive cast line up that also includes Al Pacino, Kurt Russell, Timothy Olyphant, Dakota Fanning, Tim Roth, Margaret Qualley, Damien Lewis and the late Luke Perry.
There’s quite a bit of new footage on offer here. The film looks to be quite funny, while of course also being deadly serious in that Tarantino balancing act. Tate’s eventual murder by Charles Manson’s followers looks to be a shadow hanging around proceedings; the evil cult leader is played by Aussie actor Damon Herriman (Justified, 100 Bloody Acres) and his followers are seen a number of times. It also looks like another great role for Oscar winner DiCaprio, here playing an on-edge star terrified of his fading light. Yeah, this thing can take our money.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will be hitting US cinemas on July 26 and arrives in Australia on August 15. Be sure to scroll down beneath the trailer to check out posters for four of Rick Dalton’s movies.
