Universal Pictures Australia has unveiled the first trailer for Ouija: Origin of Evil, the upcoming follow-up to the 2014 horror film.
The first film saw a group of teenagers meet their fate when they decide to mess around with an ancient spirit board. The follow-up, as the title suggests, goes the origin route, taking us back to 1965 and introducing us to a mother and her two daughters. They’ve made a living scamming individuals with their faux spirit connection service, and now the youngest daughter is about to get her comeuppance. Freaky stuff ensues.
Ouija made $US103.5 million worldwide on a budget of $US5 million, so a sequel is a bit of a no-brainer. Fingers crossed the film itself receives a better critical reception than that afforded to the first, which stands with a 7% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Ouija: Origin of Evil, starring Henry Thomas, Elizabeth Reaser, Doug Jones, Parker Mack, Sam Anderson, Kate Siegel, Annalise Basso and Lulu Wilson, hits Australian cinemas on October 20 and U.S. cinemas on October 21.
