Two creepy new posters have been unveiled for Ouija: Origin of Evil, the upcoming sequel to the 2014 horror film.
The first film wasn’t exactly considered a win in terms of overall quality, locking in a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 7% and earning a 4.4 score on IMDB. Nevertheless, a worldwide box office draw of $US103.5 million from a production budget of $US5 million gave Universal Pictures, Platinum Dunes, Blumhouse Productions and Hasbro a new little franchise.
The studios seem to be aiming a little higher this time around, at least in terms of whom they’ve placed at the helm. First-time director Stiles White may have proven to be a bit of a gamble for the first film, but perhaps having writer-director Mike Flanagan on board for the sequel bodes well. Flanagan’s credits include the impressive, yet under-seen horror pic Oculus and the well received Netflix-distributed horror film Hush.
Ouija: Origin of Evil, starring Henry Thomas, Elizabeth Reaser, Doug Jones, Parker Mack, Sam Anderson, Kate Siegel, Annalise Basso and Lulu Wilson, hits Australian cinemas on October 20 and U.S. cinemas on October 21.
