Paramount Pictures has unveiled the trailer for Overwatch, the upcoming J.J. Abrams-produced pic that’s being sparking up intrigue and speculation ever since it was announced.
The picture’s much clearer now – well, it’s a Bad Robot production, so we won’t know until relesae just how much is being kept under wraps – thanks to the attention-grabbing trailer below. The film takes us back to WWII and follows a group of soldiers that end up behind enemy lines on D Day. Cue Nazi experiments and zombie-like mayhem. Yep.
It looks pretty damn good, and much more brutal than one may have been expecting from the company behind the Cloverfield universe. Speaking of Cloverfield, apparently Overwatch isn’t an entry in that franchise, and it really doesn’t look like it is, but who knows.
The film is directed by Australian filmmaker Julius Avery, who made a number of short films before his feature debut, Son of a Gun, a crime pic starring Ewan McGregor and Brenton Thwaites. Looks like Paramount’s happy with Avery’s effort here, moving the film’s US release date from October 26 into the holiday season on November 9. Overwatch has been scheduled to open in Australia on October 25, but that may be changed soon as well.
