Lovers of cosplay, listen up.
There isn’t long left until Oz Comic-Con hits Sydney and Brisbane, with each state holding finals of Oz Comic-Con’s Australian Championships of Cosplay.
Following the Queensland state finals, the last two state finals are to take place on Sunday 11th September in Sydney, and Sunday 18th September in Brisbane. The national final will also take place at Brisbane, after which the winner of the Australian Championships of Cosplay will be given the opportunity to represent Australia at the C2E2 Crown Championships of Cosplay in Chicago in 2017.
Australia’s cosplay winner will be defending the nation’s cosplay crown earned at C2E2 earlier this year. 2015 Australian Champion Major Sam took out the top prize in March, earning acclaim for the handcrafted work she put in with her Necromancer costume.
Australian cosplayer Rae Johnston is hosting the Australian Championships of Cosplay, which will be judged by a panel of experts including Mandy Nichols (costumer for films such as The Great Gatsby).
Oz Comic Con, known to many as one of Australia’s premier pop-culture events, will be held in Sydney at the Sydney Exhibition Centre, Glebe Island on September 10-11 and in Brisbane at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on September 17-18.
