First ‘Pacific Rim: The Black’ Trailer: Monsters Take Australia in Netflix Anime Series

Netflix

The world of Pacific Rim heads to the world of anime in upcoming Netflix series Pacific Rim: The Black.

Netflix has dropped a release date teaser trailer for the series, which will find Australia taken over by the giant monsters known by the Japanese word Kaiju. The plot is set much further into the future than those two live-action films; the time of giant robots (Jaegers) taking on the creatures is long gone. We follow two teens who have been left behind in Australia after the content is evacuated. As they search for their missing parents, they find an abandoned Jaeger and decide to pilot it. “Initiate the drift.”

The series, which was co-created by Craig Kyle (Thor: Ragnarok) and Greg Johnson (X-Men: Evolution), will be streaming on Netflix from March 4th.

Official synopsis for Pacific Rim: The Black:

There was a time when Kaiju rose from the Pacific Rim only to encounter gigantic robots, Jaegers, built to fight them back. That time has passed. Now, Australia has been overrun by Kaiju, forcing the evacuation of an entire continent. Left behind, teenage siblings Taylor and Hayley embark on a desperate search for their missing parents, teaching themselves to pilot a battered, long-abandoned Jaeger to help in their quest and give them even the slightest hope of surviving.
