‘Paradise Hills’ Trailer: Sci-Fi Has Emma Roberts Waking Up in a Facility Run by Milla Jovovich

Take a look at the trailer released for Paradise Hills, an upcoming sci-fi fantasy starring Emma Roberts and Milla Jovovich.

The film follows Uma (Roberts), a girl that finds herself in a mysterious facility located on an isolated island. Run by Duchess (Jovovich), Paradise Hills is a place where high-class families send their daughters to become perfect. Among the treatments: etiquette classes, beauty, gymnastics, and diets. But, of course, there’s something quite sinister lurking underneath it all.

Some eye-catching design here, with costumes and sets given an interesting period fantasy-meets-sci-fi twist. It’s a little hard to get the overall vibe of the film from the trailer below, but there do seem to be some strong ideas scattered here and there. We’ll see.

This marks the feature directorial debut for Alice Waddington, whose previous credits include a short film (Disco Inferno) and a music video.

Paradise Hills, also starring Eiza González, Danielle Macdonald, Awkwafina and Jeremy Irvine, gets a US release on VOD, Digital and select cinemas on November 1st.

Official synopsis for Paradise Hills:

On an isolated island, Uma (Emma Roberts) wakes up to find herself at Paradise Hills, a facility where high-class families send their daughters to become perfect versions of themselves. The facility is run by the mysterious Duchess (Milla Jovovich) where calibrated treatments including etiquette classes, vocal lessons, beauty treatments, gymnastics and restricted diets, resolve all physical and emotional shortcomings within two months. The outspoken Uma finds solace and friendship in other Paradise Hills residents — Chloe (Danielle McDonald), Yu (Awkwafina) and Mexican popstar Amarna (Eiza Gonzalez). Uma soon realizes that lurking behind all this beauty is a sinister secret. It’s a race against the clock as Uma and her friends try to escape Paradise Hills before it consumes them all.
