Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherit Vice Begins Production With a Great Cast

Paul Thomas Anderson, the director of Boogie Nights, Magnolia, There Will Be Blood and last year’s The Master, has began production on his latest film, Inherit Vice. This is already fantastic news, but one look at the cast and our intrigue has gone through the roof. Joaquin Phoenix, Owen Wilson, Benicio Del Toro, Reese Witherspoon, Martin Short and Jena Malone will all star in this adaptation of the Thomas Pynchon’s novel.

Inherit Vice is set in the 1970’s and will tell the story of a drug-fueled detective, Larry “Doc” Sportello (Joaquin Phoenix), who investigates the disappearance of an ex-girlfriend and finds himself drawn into something much bigger.

Thomas Anderson has to be one of the best directors around and his films have always gathered recognition for the performances of those lucky enough to be involved. We know Phoenix, Del Toro and Witherspoon can deliver greatness, but we’re hoping that Owen Wilson does something really different here.

Joaquin Phoenix was nominated for an Academy Award last year for his performance in Anderson’s The Master.
