Mads Mikkelsen is a badass assassin in upcoming Netflix movie Polar.

An adaptation of Victor Santos’ Dark Horse graphic novel Polar: Came from the Cold, the film tells of Duncan Vizla, aka The Black Kaiser, a former assassin whose plan to call it a day and live in peace, of course, doesn’t go to plan. His former employer has soon marked him as a liability and placed a target on his head. Vanessa Hudgens plays a young woman he befriends and aims to protect.

This stylish-looking action-thriller is directed and written by Swedish music video director Jonas Åkerlund, who’s directed videos for Madonna, Blink 182, U2, Metallica and Beyonce, among many others, and features such as Spun and Small Apartments. Appears to be a slick outing, although whether there’s much we haven’t seen done before remains to be seen.

Polar, also starring Katheryn Winnick, Matt Lucas, Ruby O. Fee, Fei Ren, Anthony Grant, Josh Cruddas, Robert Maillet, Julian Richings, Johnny Knoxville and Richard Dreyfuss, will be hitting Netflix on January 25.
