Lionsgate has dropped the first trailer for Power Rangers, the upcoming big-screen adaptation of the well-known television series.
We’re introduced to the five teens prior to them becoming the titular super-powered team. They come from various walks of life, but thanks to some extra-terrestrial gifts, they’re about to come together in one hell of a way.
Thus far, it’s all as expected. This adaptation looks to be tapping into very familiar tones and plot devices, and Chronicle is certainly brought to mind in more ways than one. At least from this, it appears to be a more serious take on the tale, which may or may not be the right way to tackle a reboot. We’ll see.
Director Dean Israelite previously brought us the found-footage time-travel thriller Project Almanac.
Power Rangers, starring Dacre Montgomery (Red Ranger/Jason), Ludi Lin (Black Ranger/Zack), Naomi Scott (Pink Ranger/Kimberly), RJ Cyler (Blue Ranger/Billy), Becky G (Yellow Ranger/Trini), Elizabeth Banks (Rita Repulsa), Bill Hader (Alpha 5), and Bryan Cranston (Zordon), will arrive in Australia on March 23 and hits the US on March 24, 2017.
And be sure to scroll down to check out five character posters.
