AMC has unveiled the first official trailer for Preacher, the upcoming television series adaptation of the beloved ’90s comic series created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon.
Dominic Cooper plays Jesse Custer, a conflicted preacher with highly unconventional power. Along with his ex-girlfriend (Ruth Negga) and an Irish vampire (Joseph Gilgun), Jesse heads on a journey to, literally, find God.
Developed for television by Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg and Breaking Bad co-executive producer Sam Catlin.
The trailer below doesn’t give away too much, but it does drive home the dark and violent tone sure to be running along most of the series. The comic creates a big world, filled with interesting characters and situations ripe for discussions on things like morals and religion, so here’s hoping Preacher focuses on its key story and expanding on that rather than laying down an episodic “mission of the week” series.
We’ll find out when Preacher hits AMC mid-2016.
