Olivia Munn has been added to Twentieth Century Fox’s upcoming reboot The Predator.
According to THR, Munn has entered negotiations to play a scientist in the film, which will star Narcos actor Boyd Holbrook as a Special Forces Commando. While plot details are being kept closely guarded, it’s known that the titular alien hunter will be wreaking havoc in a present-day suburban setting.
Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Iron Man 3, The Nice Guys) is directing and has co-written the screenplay alongside Fred Dekker (Monster Squad, RoboCop 3).
Talking to the folks over at Collider last month, Black said The Predator would keep the basic “gutsy team vs. freaky alien” element that was present in the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger film.
“I think it’ll be interesting to get a group of credible guys—the hallmark of the first one is you have guys together that are kinda funny and self-referential and also very tough,” Black said. “I don’t know that we’re going to deviate over much from that, but there are at least a couple of factors that we’ve deliberately chosen to make it not just that group of buff, tough guys.”
Production on The Predator is expected to start in February. The film is scheduled for US release on February 9, 2018.
