Sony Pictures has unveiled a new trailer for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, the upcoming period horror-comedy that retells Jane Austen’s classic tale.
Based on the novel by Seth Grahame-Smith, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies reimagines Austen’s novel with the inclusion of zombies, with the Bennet sisters having been “trained for battle, not the kitchen.”
The new trailer offers a fun, energetic tone, as all matter of slaughter is afforded to the walking dead. This spin on the tale could work well, with a game cast and a sly sense of humour potentially injecting the necessary goods for a fun outing. It remains to be seen if writer-director Burr Steers, who directed Zac Efron-starring pictures 17 Again and Charlie St. Cloud, is up for the task. Fingers crossed.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, with a cast that includes Lily James, Ellie Bamber, Sam Riley, Lena Headey, Douglas Booth, Charles Dance, Matt Smith and Suki Waterhouse, hits the U.S. on February 5.
