Chris Evans is set to join Dwayne Johnson in Red One. No, this isn’t a sequel to Johnson’s Red Notice (that one already has TWO on the way); this is a holiday action-adventure movie that’s set up at Amazon Studios.

Amazon acquired Red One in a competitive bidding war back in June 2021, with Johnson on board to both star in and produce via his Seven Bucks Productions banner.

No character or plot details have been released thus far, apart from it being classified as a Christmas Movie. Producer Hiram Garcia, who came up with the original story, described Red One as “an epic, edge-of-your seat, action-adventure that takes beloved holiday mythology and turns it on its head.”

Johnson took another stab at teasing the plot, posting today on social media: “Think MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET meets HOBBS & SHAW with a little bit of ITS A WONDERFUL LIFE sprinkled on top.”

Directing Red One will be Jake Kasdan, whose credits include Johnson movies Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level, as well as comedies Bad Teacher, Sex Tape, and Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. The script comes from Chris Morgan, who penned seven films in the Fast and Furious franchise, including Johnson-Statham vehicle Hobbs & Shaw.

We’ll keep you up to date as this big project comes together.

Deadline broke the news of Evans’ casting.
