Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for upcoming animated feature DC League of Super-Pets, boasting an all-star voice cast that includes Keanu Reeves as Batman – who’s given the spotlight below.

When Superman (voiced by John Krasinski) and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto the Super-Dog (Superman’s dog, voiced by Dwayne Johnson) must convince a rag-tag shelter pack””Ace the hound (Batman’s dog, voiced by Kevin Hart), PB the potbellied pig (Vanessa Bayer), Merton the turtle (Natasha Lyonne) and Chip the squirrel (Diego Luna)””to master their own newfound powers and help him rescue the superheroes.

As the amusing new trailer showcases, Reeves does his best brooding Batman voice in a DC animated film that’s proudly meta. “Batman works alone,” says Reeves’ Dark Knight. “… Except for Robin, and Alfred, Commissioner Gordon, my I.T. crew… whoever Morgan Freeman played.” Later in the trailer, Bats spots Superman with a Batman soft toy, Squeezy Bruce, which provides some concern. “That better be a licensed toy or I will freak out.”

The family film is directed by Jared Stern (co-writer of The Lego Batman Movie) and co-directed by Sam Levine (co-creator of Disney animated series Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero), with a script that Stern penned alongside The Lego Batman and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 scribe John Whittington.

DC League of Super-Pets, also featuring the voices of Marc Maron, Thomas Middleditch, Ben Schwartz, and Dascha Polanco, will open in Australian cinemas on May 19th and U.S. cinemas on May 20th, 2022.
