Apple has forked it out for a movie package that comes with Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans starring and Jason Bateman directing.

With a deal reportedly in the $US100 million-plus range, Apple jumped on the high-profile project titled Project Artemis. Marvel stars Johansson and Evans will reunite as the film’s leads, with the former also serving as one of the film’s producers under her These Pictures production company. These Pictures originally spearheaded the project, having commissioned and developed the screenplay. Bateman will also be producing under his Aggregate Films banner.

Project Artemis‘ script was penned by Rose Gilroy, daughter of actress Rene Russo and filmmaker Dan Gilroy (Nightcrawler).  Not much to go on regarding plot, but as was first reported by Deadline, “we hear the project is set against the space race”.

Evans confirmed the news on social media, tweeting, “Very excited!”

This will mark Bateman’s third feature film as director, following Bad Words (2013) and The Family Fang (2015), both of which he also starred in. Bateman has also directed a good amount of television, including episodes of his Netflix series Ozark, two episodes of HBO series The Outsider, and an episode of comedy series Arrested Development.

Apple is certainly making big moves in the world of film. The company became the first streamer to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards, with acclaimed drama CODA taking home the big win, as well as Best Supporting Actor (Troy Kotsur) and Best Adapted Screenplay (Sian Heder).
