‘Profile’ Trailer: A Journalist Goes Undercover to Catch a Terrorist Recruiter in Screen-Recorded Thriller

Take a look at the trailer for Profile, a new thriller in the format of web-driven nail-biters such as Searching and Host.

The film stars Valene Kane (Gangs of London, The Fall) as Amy, a British journalist who decides to really immerse herself into her next story. Going undercover online, she positions herself as bait in order to lure and expose a terrorist recruiter (Shazad Latif, Star Trek: Discovery). As the trailer suggests, she’s going to have to watch her back – and her emotions.

This tense-looking pic is based on journalist Anna Erelle’s book In the Skin of a Jihadist, which tells of her real-life investigation into how ISIS recruits young women. The film, made back in 2018, is directed and co-written by Wanted and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter helmer Timur Bekmambetov, who has been a pioneer when it comes to these “Screenlife” films. He also produced 2014 hit Unfriended, its 2018 sequel Unfriended: Dark Web, and the aforementioned John Cho-starrer Searching.

Profile, also starring Christine Adams, Morgan Watkins, Amir Rahimzadeh and Emma Cater, will be hitting US cinemas on May 14th.
