Daniel Craig Stars in Luca Guadagnino’s ‘Queer’ – First Trailer Unveiled

Take a look above at the first trailer for Queer, the upcoming romantic drama from acclaimed filmmaker Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name, Suspiria, Challengers) starring Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey (Outer Banks).

Based on the 1985 semi-autobiographical novel by Beat Generation figure and postmodern author William S. Burroughs, the film has Craig playing William Lee, an American expatriate navigating a lonely existence in 1950s Mexico City. His life takes a sudden turn when he encounters Eugene Allerton, played by Starkey. The young student’s arrival sparks an intense, albeit challenging, relationship, as Lee attempts to connect meaningfully with another person after years of solitude.

Following a recent world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, Queer has already garnered substantial attention. Adapted by Justin Kuritzkes, who penned Guadagnino’s recent film Challengers, Queer is positioned as another artistic exploration of human desire and connection for Guadagnino. Apart from the intensity of the film’s core relationship, the trailer also showcases some striking creative touches, such as an interesting use of miniatures.

Queer, also starring Lesley Manville, Jason Schwartzman, Henrique Zaga, and Omar Apollo, will have a limited US release starting on November 27th.
