Prime Video knows when it has a good thing going. Alan Ritchson-led series Reacher has officially been renewed for season 6, with the streamer making the call just days after season 4 finished its run and while season 5 is still filming. That’s a serious head start, even for one of Prime Video’s biggest shows.

The numbers certainly make the decision easier to understand. Season 4 pulled in 66 million viewers worldwide during its first 28 days, putting it among the five most-watched seasons of any Prime Video original to date. The wider Reacher series has now reached more than 200 million viewers globally since launching in 2022.

The renewal arrived only 12 days after the season 4 finale dropped on September 16. Season 5, meanwhile, is currently in production in Toronto. Prime Video isn’t even waiting to see how the next chapter performs before ordering another.

Reacher Is a Prime Video Juggernaut That Keeps Hitting

Season 4’s 66-million figure also surpassed season 3’s performance, according to Amazon.

There’s a sizeable audience well beyond the US, too. According to figures released alongside the renewal, 58 per cent of Reacher‘s audience comes from outside the United States, with the UK, Germany and Brazil among its strongest international markets.

“Reacher hits hard. What Lee Child has built and Nick Santora and his creative teams have brought to life is, simply, incredible,” said Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios.

“Alan Ritchson is Jack Reacher — he’s delivered a performance that has captivated audiences around the world. Together with our partners at Paramount Television Studios, we couldn’t be more excited to continue this journey.”

“Reacher is a truly iconic series, and we’re thrilled to be on the ride with this extraordinary cast and crew for Season Six.”

Season 5 Is Already Filming

And there’s still an entire season to get through before season 6 becomes the immediate concern. Season 5 is currently filming in Toronto and will adapt Make Me, the 20th novel in Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series.

The story begins with Reacher arriving in the small town of Mother’s Rest, where he teams up with private investigator Michelle Chang while looking into a disappearance that leads them towards something considerably more dangerous.

Amanda Ip is playing Chang, joining Ritchson alongside Jay Baruchel, Ciara Bravo and Kevin Durand.

Prime Video hasn’t yet announced which Child novel will be adapted for season 6, leaving plenty of possibilities for where Reacher heads next.

Meanwhile, Neagley Has Been Giving Reacher Some Competition

The franchise isn’t just growing through more Reacher, either. Neagley, starring Maria Sten as Frances Neagley, launched all eight episodes on September 16 and quickly climbed to the No. 1 position on Prime Video, knocking Reacher itself from the top spot.

In an Instagram video posted days before the season 6 announcement, Ritchson congratulated Sten, the cast and crew after Neagley reached No. 1. He described it as a “bittersweet day” in “Reacherville” as he headed to work on season 5 in Toronto, before joking about his own show’s displacement.

“I guess I just have to work harder,” Ritchson joked.

Sten, meanwhile, was understandably happy to hear that the mothership would be sticking around. Responding to Amazon MGM Studios’ season 6 announcement post, she commented: “Woop woop!!! Can’t stop won’t stop.”

It’s a pretty good snapshot of where this franchise now sits. Reacher has just delivered another huge season, Neagley has already managed to knock it from Prime Video’s top spot, season 5 is filming and season 6 is locked in before those cameras have even stopped rolling.

Jack Reacher isn’t going anywhere.
